Toni Kroos extended his stay at the club, as he signed a one-year contract extension last month.
Rumours had claimed that the 33-year-old was considering to quit football at the end of last season, just as he retired from the international stage just after the World Cup in Qatar.
According to the veteran midfielder, his wife made him sign the new contract.
The veteran midfielder has recently signed a new contract, extending his stay at Bernabeu until June 2024.
“My wife let me. She allowed me to continue for another year,” the German said half-jokingly.
“There are one or two negative examples, when people were just not being able to quit football when they are no longer the players they used to be. I don’t want that to happen to me. I want to retire at a really good level.
“I have the feeling that this season has gone as well as the last nine in Madrid, why shouldn’t the next one go just as well?
“I’m still enjoying football and I’m still hungry for titles.”
