It was at first reported that Barcelona were ahead of Real Madrid in the race to sign Fenerbahce wonderkid Arda Guler.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta had even spoken of the deal, as he gave green-light to sign the Turkish talent.
However, Fanatik’s Yakup Cinar and Yeni Acik, have claimed that Arda Guler has decided to sign for Real Madrid instead.
Real Madrid will reportedly pay Fenerbahce €20m, and may decide to loan him out for one season.
Mesut Ozil is believed to have had an effect on this deal, and rather advised Arda Guler to choose the Los Blancos. The youngster sees Ozil as his idol.
Back in March, Ozil even admitted that Guler was a better player than him.
“Is there a better ’10’ than you [in Turkey]?” Mesut Ozil was asked.
He responded: “Difficult question. A name occurs to me… I have a brother I believe in. I hope that God protects him from the evil eye: he is Arda Guler.”
Arda Guler is one of the most highly-rated wonderkids in his position. Last season, he broke into the Fenerbahce team and scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists for Fenerbahce in all competitions.
