Real Madrid consider Valverde as an important player and point to the fact he has a €1bn release clause in his current contract that runs until 2027.

Enquiries from Chelsea for the Uruguayan midfielder has been dismissed immediately by Real Madrid. Liverpool and Manchester City have also had enquiries for Valverde dismissed by Real Madrid.

Valverde sees himself as a future Real Madrid captain and sees himself spending the rest of his career with the Spanish giants.

Valverde has been with Madrid for seven years already after joining the club from Penarol, and has already amassed more than 200 appearances since making his first-team debut in 2018.
