Real Madrid will be looking for a new manager next summer, to take over from Carlo Ancelotti.
The Brazilian FA have already confirmed that they’ve appointed Ancelotti to take over as Brazil head coach next summer, after his contract is up at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Four names have been linked with the Real Madrid job, and they are all ex-Real Madrid stars.
Club legend Zinedine Zidane – who has already taken charge of Real on two separate occasions – is the favourite for the job. Zidane has been without a job since leaving the Santiago Bernabéu.
Bayer Leverkusen manager and former Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso is also another favourite for the job.
Alonso has been very impressive as a manager since taking over at the BayArena.
Alonso, 41, led Leverkusen to the semi-finals of the Europa League – where they suffered a 1-0 aggregate defeat to Roma. He also led Leverkusen to a sixth-placed finish in the Bundesliga.
Castilla head coach Raul and former defender Alvaro Arbeloa are also being linked with the job.
Raul has been in charge of the Castilla youth team for four years, winning 57 of his 132 matches in charge and clinching the UEFA Youth League title in the 2019-20 season.
40-year-old Arbeloa led Real’s Under-19s to six wins from eight UEFA Youth League contests last season, but his side were thrashed 4-0 by AZ Alkmaar in the quarter-finals. He has also shown his quality as a youth team manager.
