Following Benzema’s move to Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid are set to have a new penalty taker next season.
According to Diario AS, Vinicius Jr is now planning to take over the responsibility of penalties.
The Spanish publication adds that the 23-year-old has been staying late on the pitch to practise penalties.
Vinicius Jr joined Real Madrid in 2018, and initially struggled as a young teenager.
The forward has however turned into a world class player, and formed a formidable partnership with Benzema over the past two years.
Vinicius scored 22 goals in the 2021-22 season and 23 in the past season.
Now 23, the Brazilian is ready to become the star of the team, and has been handed the iconic No. 7 shirt ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
