Marco Asensio spent 9 years at Real Madrid before deciding to join PSG.
The 27-year-old left the Los Blancos as a free agent, to team up with Luis Enrique, who was appointed as their new head coach.
In an interview with RMC Sport, Asensio revealed his reason for leaving Real Madrid.
He said: “Above all for the project and the ambition. I’m at a moment in my career that is really very good.
“I had to make a decision, and I wanted to take a step forward. I think this club is the perfect club to do all that and win trophies.”
Asensio also admitted that he spoke with his French teammates at Real Madrid like Karim Benzema and Aurelien Tchouameni.
He said: “Yes. I asked them. And they made some jokes in French so I could learn a couple of things in French. For Ligue 1, I know it’s a very physical league. There are also very technical players. As a club, PSG is a big club, one of the biggest in Europe, and that’s why we want to win everything.”
Speaking on his relationship with Luis Enrique, Mbappe said: “We were together at the World Cup. We’ve known each other for a long time and it’s a very good relationship. We hope to be good, and develop great things here.”
