Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has been linked with the Real Madrid job.
Alonso is regarded as one of the main candidates to succeed Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid coach, with the Italian set to leave the seat at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
Asked about the job, Alonso who’s currently in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, played down the talks, and insists he’d wait for his time.
He told Marca: “Everything has its time. Now I’m here, I’m very happy and what has to come in the future we’ll see.
“Normally in football when you think about the medium-long term you lose focus on what’s closest to you and right now I only think about what we have here.”
The former Real midfielder added: “Whatever has to come will be seen at the end of the season.”
