New Real Madrid signing gets red card while sitting on the bench

New Real Madrid signing Endrick, has received the first red card of his professional career.

The 17-year-old was shown a red card during Palmeiras’ knockout game against Atletico Mineiro on Wednesday.

Endrick was shown a red card despite being on the bench, as the referee decided to send him off for improper conduct.

Very late in the game, Endrick kicked the ball away to prevent an opponent from taking a quick throw-in. He was given a red card in the 94th minute for his action.

Palmeiras won the first leg 1-0, and held out for a 0-0 draw in the second leg, to progress to the quarterfinal of the Copa Libertadores.

Endrick will now miss the first leg of the quarter-final through suspension.

Endrick will join Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, after sealing a €37m transfer this summer.
