Thibaut Courtois recently picked up a ghastly injury in training, and is now set for a lengthy time on the sidelines, as he will undergo surgery.
Ancelotti has sent his best wishes to the Belgian, and also assured that second choice goalie Andriy Lunin will do a good job.
“I’m very sad for Courtois but I’m not worried. It’s time to give Lunin full support,” Carlo Ancelotti said in his press conference today.
“We trust Lunin. If we sign a new goalkeeper it will only be to have another player in the squad. We have total faith in Lunin.”
Ancelotti also confirmed that Lunin will be in goal against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, as La Liga action resumes.
“Lunin will obviously play tomorrow,” Ancelotti said.
Real Madrid have been linked with a new goalkeeper, with the club pushing to sign free agent David de Gea.
Ancelotti admitted that Real will push for a new goalkeeper.
“New goalkeeper? Yes, we have to think about it. But we also trust Lunin,” he added.
