New signing Kepa Arrizabalaga made his Real Madrid debut against Celta Vigo on Friday night, and it ended in a clean sheet, as the Los Blancos won the tie 1-0.

Rating Kepa’s performance after the game, Ancelotti admitted that the Spaniard had a difficult start, but praised the team’s commitment to win the tie.

Ancelotti said: “Kepa played well and we struggled a bit at the back at the beginning and it was difficult for us, but the team played well.

“A clean sheet is a good sign. This wasn’t a victory purely based on quality, but rather on commitment. There were some negatives, but we battled until the end.”

On whether Kepa will be a starter in the next game, Ancelotti said: “He deserved to play, we’ve been well covered by Lunin and Kepa in the last three games. We’ll see about the next game.”

Celta Vigo had a goal disallowed early in the game for a foul on Kepa, and Ancelotti believes it was the right call.

He said: “I saw someone grab Kepa’s jersey and I think it was clearly a disallowed goal.”
