A number of names have been tipped to win the Ballon d’Or this year – Erling Haaland, Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Man City star Kevin De Bruyne has backed Erling Haaland to win the award, and also backed Vinicius Jr will win the Ballon d’Or before Kylian Mbappe does if Mbappe continues at PSG.

Explaining his choice to Sky Sports De Bruyne said: “Because I don’t know what’s happening with him [Mbappe] this year.

“I think it’s harder for Mbappe to win the Ballon d’Or at PSG. There are rumours he may go to Real Madrid, then maybe I would put him first or something.”

“Erling because he’s got a real chance to win it this year,” De Bruyne adds.
