Kepa joined Real Madrid before the close of the summer transfer window, following the injury to first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Kepa will take over as a temporal first choice goalkeeper, with Courtois expected to be out until the end of the season.
Kepa has now said he wishes to stay back at Real Madrid, and not return to Chelsea.
“My intention is to stay for more than a year,” Kepa told Cope.
“I felt it was time for a change of scenery. I wanted to stay. But it only took a couple of calls because when Real Madrid call, it is different. I felt the Chelsea project was not the right one.”
Explaining why he loves Real Madrid, Kepa added: “The aura that is breathed in the Bernabéu is special. I really wanted to play in the stadium, because the last 3 years I played there with Chelsea, I can already feel what a comeback is like at home.”
