Real Madrid veteran midfielder Luka Modric, turned 38 today.

Former Los Blancos striker Karim Benzema was among the first to send Luka Modric a birthday message as the Croatian icon turns 38 today.

“Happy birthday bro,” Benzema sent a short message to Modric, with a photo of the duo.

Meanwhile, Modric has said he’s unhappy with his lack of game time this season.

“Nobody is happy without playing and after my whole career it definitely feels strange,” he told Sportske Novosti.

“Anyway, the coach made that decision and I won’t quit because of that. Quite the opposite, actually.”

Modric also revealed that he wasn’t told about losing his place in the team before signing the new contract.

Asked whether his role in the team was discussed when he signed his one-year contract extension in June, Modric said: “They wanted me to stay and my wish was the same.

“My only requirement was to be treated as a competitive player and that I wasn’t staying purely based on my past achievements. They told me that my status wouldn’t change and that’s why I signed.”
