Read what Ancelotti has to say about Champions League opponents Union Berlin

Real Madrid start their Champions League opener with a home game against Union Berlin.

The Bundesliga side are in the competition for the first time, and Carlo Ancelotti has done his homework on them.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s clash, Ancelotti said: “The Champions League is a special competition for us.

“We’re going to treat tomorrow’s game as something special. We want to get off to a good start in the group stage and we’re playing at home. Our opponents are a well-organised, strong and solid side. We will need to play at a high intensity.”

On Union Berlin, he said: “They’re a new team in the Champions League but the fact they’re here means they’ve done very well.

“They’re well organised defensively, they’re solid and they play with intensity. We’ve studied them carefully and hopefully we can put in a good performance tomorrow.”
