Liverpool were one of the clubs linked with Jude Bellingham, before they backed out of the deal during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool had also been linked with Bellingham even before the player moved to Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham has proven why he was highly sought after, with his match-winning displays for Real Madrid.

Surprisingly, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is hopeful that Bellingham can play for Liverpool in the near future.

Asked if Bellingham would have looked good in a Liverpool shirt, Carragher responded: “He would have done. But there is still time. He isn’t going to stay there his whole career.

“It’s probably hard to leave Madrid, if I am totally honest,” he continued. “But, at some stage, if he’s the best player in England and one of England’s greatest ever players, which I think he will become, then I think he will want to sample the Premier League. And where better than Liverpool, the six-time Champions League winners.”

Fellow pundit and ex-Barca striker Thierry Henry pointed out Real Madrid’s own legacy, as he disagreed with Carragher.

Henry responded: “He plays for a team that has won 14, so that is a tough one. That is the only team that can battle those guys. Not the only one, but that’s big.”
