Real Madrid recorded their first defeat of the season – a 3-1 loss to Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
Carlo Ancelotti has been blamed for his tactics on the day, as he started midfield veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos for the first time this season.
According to reports, Real Madrid board are unhappy with Carlo Ancelotti for starting Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in midfield, as he had been urged to give youth a chance this season.
According to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Ancelotti was told by Florentino Perez not to start the two legends together on several occasions last season.
Ancelotti seemed to have taken heed to the warning this season, but surprisingly started the duo against Atletico Madrid, and it backfired.
Kroos scored Madrid’s only goal, but Modric had a poor night, and got himself a yellow card as well, as he struggled to keep up with the pace and physicality of Atletico.
It now appears that Carlo Ancelotti may not feature the duo together for a long time coming.
