Real Madrid pass Girona test to go top of the league

Many would have expected Girona to trouble Real Madrid, as they’ve done to other sides this season, but the Los Blancos gave no room to the surprise package.

Girona started the game brightly, and missed a good number of chances, but it was Real Madrid who took the lead first.

A quick-fire goal from Joselu and Aurelien Tchouameni put Madrid ahead in the 17th and 21st minute respectively.

The hosts started the second-half brightly yet again, but couldn’t find a way past Kepa.

Jude Bellingham ended any hope of a Girona comeback in the 71st minute, as he showed good awareness to pounce a rebound shot from a Joselu strike make it 3-0.

Real Madrid are now top of the table with 21 points, a point above Barca, while Girona have dropped to third.
