Real Madrid had a good game against Girona, and won the tie 3-0, in what Carlo Ancelotti described as a perfect performance.

The only smear on the game was the red card given to Nacho Fernandez.

Nacho was shown a red card in injury-time for an ugly challenge on Girona striker,  Portu.

Ancelotti has defended Nacho, and claimed that it wasn’t intentional.

“Nacho was not thinking clearly,” Ancelotti said.

“It could have been avoided, we’re sorry and he has apologised. Hopefully it’s not serious. He is very hurt and sad. Nobody should have any doubts about him. He is usually a player who does things right.”

Portu was taken to hospital after the match.
