Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has rated the performance of some of his players in the Champions League clash against Napoli.
The Los Blancos won the tie 3-2, and currently sit top of the group chart.
Luka Modric was a second-half substitute in the game, and left a good impression on the gaffer.
Ancelotti said of Modric: “He did what we expected him to do: to use his experience to help the team. He played 30 minutes at a high level and that means he’s motivated and can contribute. That’s what the coach asks of a player who is not playing. He’s been fantastic in that respect.”
Ancelotti also spoke about playing Eduardo Camavinga at left-back.
He said: “I didn’t want to put too much pressure on the team that did so well in Girona. It was an important game and we did well. I only brought in Rodrygo, who had been rested. Camavinga gives us a lot in terms of playing the ball out from the back. In the first half, we did well because of his qualities.”
On goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, the Madrid boss said: “Each player has his own characteristics. He’s tremendous between the sticks and he made a great save in the first half, but he struggles in the air. Nobody’s perfect. Neither are you. I’m very handsome and I’m not perfect.”
