Former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, has insinuated that Real Madrid have been favoured by referees in the La Liga, compared to other clubs.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has made this assertion a number of times, and Morata has joined the naysayers.
“Do the referees treat you the same way at Atlético as at Real Madrid?” the striker was asked by COPE.
He replied: “You already know the answer and everyone knows it.”
Morata who is a Madrid academy graduate has definitely ruined his little reputation at the club. He made 95 appearances for Los Blancos in his two spells at the club, and currently plays for Atlético Madrid.
This isn’t the first time Morata has spoken ill of Real Madrid.
He has previously stated that he regrets leaving Juventus to return to Real Madrid.
“Why I chose to return to Real Madrid? Because there were contractual agreements that needed to be respected,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The disappointment was enormous: I found myself back to square one. They treated me like the boy I was before my two seasons in Italy.
“Juve’s trademark? A winning mentality and great professionalism. My two seasons at Juve were great.
“I went there as a boy and left as a real player. For a Spaniard, Italy is the best country to live in. You have everything: beauty, history, art, cooking, fashion. I’d have never left Italy and Juve.”
