Xabi Alonso’s impressive work at Bayer Leverkusen has triggered rumour of a possible Real Madrid reunion.

According to reports, if there’s tangible interest from the Los Blancos, Alonso could leave Bayer Leverkusen in 2024.

Alonso’s contract reportedly includes a clause that could allow him to return to one of his three former clubs, Real, Bayern, or Liverpool, should they approach him for his services.

This news comes after Alonso extended his contract at Bayer Leverkusen in August, keeping him with the club until 2026.

With uncertainty surrounding Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid, Alonso is being discussed as a possible replacement for the Italian.

Alonso is having a great time in North Rhine-Westphalia as his team strives to compete for the Bundesliga title against Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich. Currently, Leverkusen is leading by one point, with Bayern just two points behind.
