Uruguay hosted Brazil in a crunch CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.
The game saw three Real Madrid stars on display – Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo for Brazil, and Federico Valverde for Uruguay.
Ahead of the game, Rodrygo revealed Valverde’s strong warning to his Brazilian compatriots.
“He told Vini and me: ‘You don’t even need to go, stay in Madrid,” Rodrygo told reporters.
Federico Valverde kept to his words as he captained Uruguay to a famous 2-0 victory against Brazil.
Valverde didn’t score or assist in the game, but stats showed just how instrumental he was to Uruguay’s big win. The midfielder made two interceptions, registered two shots and had an 80% pass accuracy.
