Rodrygo finally ended his scoring drought, as he netted the opener in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Braga.
The 22-year-old Brazilian had struggled to find the back of the net since the Bilbao clash in mid-August, and was delighted to find his scoring touch once more.
Speaking after the game, the 22-year-old thanked his coach, Carlo Ancelotti, for trusting him regardless.
He said: “I wanted to say thank you to the coach [Carlo Ancelotti] because he trusted in me, and trusted in me, and calmed me down. I saw that he was sad [when I couldn’t score].
“The coach knows that I love him a lot and now we can continue doing things better,” Rodrygo told Movistar+ in an aftermath of the Braga win.
Rodrygo’s parents were in attendance for the game, and would be pleased to have watched their son score on the night.
