Premier League side Chelsea won’t sell Reece James to Real Madrid, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.
James, who was appointed as Chelsea captain in the summer, is considered an important player by Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino and also the Chelsea board.
Real Madrid have identified James as the perfect replacement for Dani Carvajal but Chelsea aren’t interested in selling James who is under contract until 2028.
“We always hear rumours about Real Madrid and Reece James but it’s important to also hear Chelsea’s message, that he’s a very important player,” Romano said as quoted by Sportskeeda.
“He’s been unlucky with injuries and they consider his potential very high still, the owners, board, Pochettino all want him to be an important part of the project, this is why he’s captain, also the player’s focus is on Chelsea.”
