Real Madrid are interested in signing 24 year old Netherlands international midfielder Mats Wieffer next summer, according to Spanish outlet Don Diario via The Hard Tackle.
With Luka Modric and Toni Kroos expected to leave Real Madrid next year, Real Madrid are scouring the market for a midfielder ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window and Wieffer has emerged as an ideal target for the club.
Wieffer has come leaps and bounds since joining Feyenoord from Excelsior in July 2022. He played a key role as Feyenoord won the Dutch title last season.
Wieffer has continued from where he left off last season, dominating the midfield in 16 outings thus far while chipping in with two goals and one assist.
His performances for Feyenoord has seen him break into the Netherlands national team this year. The midfield powerhouse made his debut for the Netherlands in March 2023 and has already made five further appearances on the international stage.
Wieffer is primarily a holding midfielder but he can also play as a box-to-box midfielder and a centre-back.
