Following the injury to Vinicius Jr, one would think Carlo Ancelotti would call back youngster Alvaro Rodriguez.

The teenager did well with the first team last season, and even starred on his debut, but we’re yet to hear from him again.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has rather called up Gonzalo Garcia Torres for today’s clash with Cadiz rather than Rodriguez.

Explaining why, Ancelotti said: “Rodrygo is doing well. He trained on his own today, but the slight discomfort he had in his knee has gone. He’s trained normally and will be available tomorrow.

“Álvaro (Rodriguez) did very well when he was selected last year and also with Castilla. Then he slowed down a bit. Now he’s back to the same level he was with us, but he gets fewer opportunities because we have his type of profile with Joselu.

“That’s why I prefer to call Gonzalo, as he has a different profile because he can play both as a centre forward and as a winger.”
