Barcelona’s defeat to Girona sent shockwaves across the football world, as Girona beat Barca 4-2.

Barca are looking different from the side that won the league last term, and it appears Real Madrid’s major challenger will be Girona, and also Atletico Madrid.

A Supercomputer at TheAnalyst has tipped Barca to finish third in the La Liga this season, behind Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

After the loss to Girona, Barca’s chances of winning the title have dropped from 7.5% to a mere 4.3%. Atletico’s chances jumped to 9.9%, while Real Madrid’s chances jumped to 80.5%, making the Los Blancos favourites for the La Liga title.

Barca’s 30.4% of finishing third is their best possible projection in the top four, while Girona are predicted to finish fourth at 26.2%.

As it stands, Barcelona are fourth in the league, 7 points behind leaders Girona, 5 points behind second placed Real Madrid, and level on points with Atlético Madrid who have played a game less.
