Real Madrid left it late against Alaves, and it was a massive win that took the Los Blancos top of the table.

Despite the late winner against Alaves, Carlo Ancelotti is aware that Aurelien Tchouameni won’t be top happy with the game, as he had to play as a centre-back.

Following the red card to Nacho Fernandez, Ancelotti decided to bring on Tchouameni to play in defence.

He said: “He’ll be upset, but he’s a fantastic centre-back. He plays very well, he brings the ball out from the back like few others and tactically he’s very good.

“He’s lucky that he can play in two positions: as a defensive midfielder and at centre-back.”

For Carlo Ancelotti, the win against Alaves was a test of the team’s character.

The Italian said: “We’re really pleased with tonight because it was very difficult but thanks to the immense commitment of this team, we have won it. Playing with ten men for over half an hour required a huge effort.

“That’s why we deserved to win it at the end.
