Karim Benzema left Real Madrid at the end of last season to sign a mega deal with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.
However, the Los Blancos legend isn’t having a good relationship with the club’s fan base.
Karim Benzema has been heavily criticised by Al-Ittihad fans for not giving enough to the club. Fans believe Cristiano Ronaldo is more dedicated to his team Al Nassr, than Benzema is to Al-Ittihad.
Benzema has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 14 matches, while Ronaldo has found the net 17 times and tops the goal scorer’s chart.
Al-Ittihad who won the league last season, has struggled to find consistency throughout the season. The reigning Saudi champions are now in 6th place, 22 points behind the leaders, Al-Hilal.
A top Saudi presenter, Walid Al-Farraj, blasted Benzema, thus: “The gap between Benzema and the public is growing day by day. He didn’t play and never managed to make a single difference. And above all, he makes no effort, as if he were telling the audience: ‘I’m just having fun with you’.
“When Ronaldo arrived in January he showed signs that he wanted to play, but Benzema offered nothing. It’s like the team doesn’t like him. He is uncomfortable. I don’t know the reason.
“Marcelo Gallardo, the new coach of Al-Ittihad, even chose to take him out fifteen minutes from the end against Al-Raed. He can always return to Lyon this winter, to be Lacazette’s understudy.”
