Manchester United star Raphael Varane is keen on returning to Real Madrid in January, according to media outlet AS via Metro.
Varane left the Bernabeu to join United in a £34million deal in 2021, forming a formidable partnership at the heart of defence alongside Lisandro Martinez last season.
However, the 30 year old defender has struggled with game time this season. He has started only nine games in all competitions this season with Harry Maguire, Johnny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw all preferred at the back on different occasions.
With David Alaba and Eder Militao currently injured, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen on Varane returning to the club in January.
The report alsi adds that Varane would also be keen to return to the Spanish capital with his salary at Old Trafford not thought to be an obstacle.
With Varane’s Manchester United contract expiring next summer, Real Madrid can reportedly sign the Frenchman for as little as little as £8.6million.
