Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema is having a hard time in Saudi Arabia.
The Frenchman has deleted his Instagram account, which had more than 76 million followers.
Benzema has faced constant abuse online from his club fans, since sealing a mouthwatering move to Al Ittihad.
Benzema has been subjected to all sort of abuse, and has now been popularly labelled ‘Ben Hazima’ which translates to ‘Son of defeat’.
Big Benz who isn’t an outgoing person per se, is being hated for not having a relationship with the fans, as compared to Cristiano Ronaldo who has a more bubbly personality.
Before being sacked, former Al Ittihad manager Nuno Espirito Santo had a heated argument with Benzema in which he reportedly accused the striker of being ‘lazy’.
Fans expect Benzema to perform better than Cristiano Ronaldo who is three years his senior, and while Ronaldo’s club are second in the Saudi Pro League, Al Ittihad 6th, and 22 points off the leaders.
Nevertheless, Benzema has done well despite the bad publicity. He has played 20 games this season, netting 12 times and laying on five assists. It puts his record at nearly a goal contribution per game.
