Carlo Ancelotti led Real Madrid to a 5-3 win over Atletico Madrid in Wednesday’s Super Cup semi-final clash.
Following that game, Ancelotti moved up to second in the club’s all-time records for games coached at Real Madrid – same number with Zinedine Zidane.
It was Ancelotti’s 263rd game in charge of Madrid, moving the 64-year-old level with former manager and club legend Zinedine Zidane, on the all-time charts.
The final will see Ancelotti claim second place alone, and Zidane drop to third.
However, it will take something extraordinary for Ancelotti to catch the existing record holder, Miguel Munoz.
Munoz took charge of the club between 1959 and 1974, racking up a stunning 605 games in charge of the Spanish giants.
Munoz also holds the record for most wins in charge of Madrid, having won 357 games.
With Ancelott having extended his contract, he’d reduce the gap on Munoz, but he may need around five more seasons to match up the veteran.
