Real Madrid lost club legend Karim Benzema last summer, as the Frenchman opted to join Saudi side Al-Ittihad who gave him a juicy offer.

Benzema had been at Real for 14 years before making the switch, and he was a valuable player even at his age.

One player who was also expected to leave is Luka Modric. The 38-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Saudi, but he rejected an offer of €300 million for three seasons last summer. Al-Hilal wanted him, but he renewed his deal with Real Madrid.

The Ballon d’Or winner was an unhappy man at the start of the season, however, as he seemed to have lost his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

Modric is now back in the team, and has proven to be a valuable player for Ancelotti despite being 38.
