Vinicius Jr put up a five star showing as Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 4-1 to win the Super Cup.

It was a fiery start from the Los Blancos, as Vinicius Jr scored a first-half hat-trick.

Ten minutes into the game, Vinicius had already scored a brace. Robert Lewandowski would score in the 33rd minute to reduce the deficit for Barca, but it was a mere consolation goal.

Vinicius won and converted a penalty in the 39th minute to put the Los Blancos ahead.

Xavi made a triple change after the hour mark to try and rescue the game, but Rodrygo scored three minutes later, as he capitalised on a mistake by Jules Kounde to score the fourth for Madrid.

Shortly after, Barca saw Ronald Araujo sent off for a second bookable offence after a foul on Vinicius.

Real Madrid deservedly won the tie 4-1, and are the Super Cup champions. What a way to start 2024!
