Real Madrid beat Barcelona in the Spanish Supercopa final, as the Los Blancos won the Clasico tie 4-1.
The first-half ended 3-1, with Vinicius Jr scoring a quick-fire brace inside 10 minutes, and a hat-trick by half-time. Rodrygo scored in the second-half to make it 4-1.
Lamine Yamal came on as a substitute in the second-half for Barcelona, but couldn’t help change the scoreline.
Lamine Yamal couldn’t hold back the tears at full time, as the cameras in Riyadh caught the 16-year-old with tears rolling down his cheeks.
Speaking after the game, Xavi admitted that Real Madrid’s counterattacking strategy did damage to Barcelona.
“Real Madrid did us a lot of damage on the counterattack. It was difficult for us to compete,” Xavi said.
“I am disappointed and sad. We have to live the bitter side of football, but Barca will be back.”
