Federico Valverde has grown into an invaluable asset for Carlo Ancelotti.

The Real Madrid boss has said he doesn’t have to bother about the best position to field Valverde, as does the Uruguayan.

Ancelotti said: “I’ve asked him where he prefers to play and he doesn’t care. I don’t either. The important thing is that he can play because he is an essential player for us.”

Ancelotti also gave an update on Rodrygo ahead of the Copa del Rey clash with Atlético Madrid, after the Brazilian suffered an injury scare recently.

He said: “He needed another day of low intensity. He’s on a good run and was key in the two Super Cup games, especially against Atlético. He’s getting back to his best. He’s fine for tomorrow and the whole team is available. Lucas Vazquez will be back on Friday.”

On Brahim Diaz good form, the Real Madrid manager said” “He’s come back after two years in Milan and he’s got more tactical awareness and more legs. He’s more powerful and excels in tight spaces. He also does important defensive work. He’s a complete player who’s helping us a lot.”
