Vinicius Jr hasn’t had it easy with injuries, and only recently returned from a spell on the sidelines.

However, the Brazilian was back to his terrifying best against Barcelona, and even scored a hat-trick as Real won the tie 4-1.

Carlo Ancelotti has hailed Vinicius Jr’s return to form despite having been out due to injury.

The Italian gaffer said: “He’s back to his best following the injury. He’s learning to play a bit more centrally and that makes him even more dangerous and less predictable than playing out wide.

“He links up very well with Rodrygo and I liked what he’s been doing more than the three goals.”

Ancelotti also hailed Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy who have both returned from injury.

On Carvajal: “He’s an expert in his position. What he does speaks for himself and what he’s been able to achieve since he arrived here. It’s down to his character and the way that he is when he’s physically fit.”

On Mendy: “I have to keep an eye on what he does on the pitch and in training. I don’t know when his contract will end.

“He’s doing very well and the important thing is that he contributes to the team. He’s contributing a lot and he’s in good physical condition.”
