Real Madrid crashed out of the Copa del Rey on Thursday night after losing 4-2 to city rivals Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has now given three reasons for the heartbreaking defeat to Atletico Madrid on Thursday night.

Ancelotti said: “We lost the game due to a bad pass and a great play by Griezmann.

“We played very well, we fought, we came back twice. We hit the bar twice, a goal disallowed… We lost when we had the game under control, due to a loss of the ball.

“Atletico had one week to prepare this game. Of course we were at a disadvantage.”

Ancelotti refused to criticise the performance of Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin in the defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Ancelotti added: “Lunin? I don’t want to focus on one player. We should have done better when it was draw.”
