Real Madrid had to come from 2-0 down to beat Almeria.
It was a game Real Madrid could easily have lost after a woeful first-half, but the Los Blancos turned things around in the second-half.
Carlo Ancelotti was very disappointed with the first-half performance, and he believes he’s the one to blame.
The Italian believes that the team lacked energy in the first-half, which made it easy for Almeria.
The Madrid players were exhausted after playing a full 120 minutes against Atletico Madrid just 72 hours prior to the La Liga game against Almeria, and Ancelotti opted for the same starting eleven.
The gaffer corrected the mistake at half-time, as he brought on Brahim Diaz, Fran Garcia and Joselu, which gave the Los Blancos much-needed energy to go on and win the game.
The gaffer said: “I was annoyed with myself. Every player wants to play and we have to evaluate the players’ level of fatigue and we didn’t assess it well.
“I started to think about making changes in the 30th minute because there was a lack of energy. I told the players the strategy to follow and nothing else. The first person I had to be angry with was myself.”
Goals from Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and a stoppage time strike from Dani Carvajal sealed the victory for Real Madrid.
