Almeria coach Gaizka Garitano and his players were left feeling frustrated after losing 3-2 to Real Madrid on Sunday evening.

The coach was eventually given a red card for his constant protests against the referee’s decisions.

Almeria had a 2-0 lead but were beaten 3-2, after a series of VAR decisions went Real’s way, with Dani Carvajal scoring the winner for Real deep into injury time.

Almeria player Gonzalo Melero said the team left the Bernabeu feeling they were robbed.

He said after the loss to Real Madrid: “We leave with the feeling that we have been robbed.

“The refs have hurt us and on top of that they will think that they’ve done well. If we want to be the best league in the world, we are light years away.”

In a snappy interview, Almeria coach Garitano refused to say much, as he was keen to avoid further sanctions.
