Things went downhill too quickly for Xavi at Barcelona.

From turning things around last season, as Barcelona won the La Liga title last term and the Copa del Rey, Barca have been punished on all fronts this season.

The Blaugrana are ten points behind in the La Liga standings, they’ve also been knocked out of the Copa del Rey and lost heavily to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.

This then followed another defeat – this time, a chaotic home defeat against Villarreal, losing 5-3 despite having taken a comeback 3-2 win so late in the game.

Pro-Barca journalist Jota Jordi, who once touted Xavi as a better coach than Zinedine Zidane, is now blaming Xavi’s departure on Real Madrid.

“Congratulations to all of you, madridistas, you did it, you made Xavi leave. You started a campaign that, unfortunately, has reached even Barcelona,” he said on El Chiringuito special.
