Known as the Turkish Messi in his country, Arda Guler made a sensational switch to Real Madrid from Fenerbahce last summer, for a fee of €20m.

Injuries have hampered the 18-year-old in his debut season at Real Madrid, but Carlo Ancelotti has said he’s now progressing well.

The Italian concedes that an entire country (Turkey) is looking forward to seeing him play.

“Arda Guler? He is progressing well, every day he is physically better, getting used to the intensity of this football club,” Carlo Ancelotti said in his press conference.

“Now he is fine and will have minutes. But, as I said, he has to be patient. I understand that there is a lot of pressure on him, because an entire country, Turkey, wants to see him play for Real Madrid, but the boy is 18 years old.

“His time will come.”

Guler has played three games for Real Madrid this season across three different competitions, with a total of 76 minutes game time.
