Real Madrid played out a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano, away at the Estadio de Vallecas.
It wasn’t an easy game for the Los Blancos on a hot sunny Sunday afternoon.
Real took the lead in the third minute, but got pegged back from the penalty spot midway through the half.
Real struggled for an equaliser midway until the end of the game, but it wasn’t to be. Both sides had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
Carlo Ancelotti was particularly pleased with the performance of Luka Modric, who started the game but was subbed off late in the game for Arda Guler.
“He played really well, he tried everything he could. With the ball he was the most alert.
“He played very well, he tried to look for passes and his positioning was good.
“The same Modrić as always.”
For all of the ball display from Modric, it wasn’t enough to penetrate Rayo Vallecano, but Carlo Ancelotti was pleased with the veteran midfielder nevertheless.
Speaking on the game, Ancelotti said: “We played with intensity, but Rayo played really well in terms of intensity.
“They did well with their plan to break and we got a point that could be positive in the future.”
