Real Madrid played out a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano, away at the Estadio de Vallecas.
It wasn’t an easy game for the Los Blancos on a hot sunny Sunday afternoon.
Real took the lead in the third minute, but got pegged back from the penalty spot midway through the half.
Real struggled for an equaliser midway until the end of the game, but it wasn’t to be. At the end, it got worse for Madrid, as referee Muñiz Ruiz issued a straight red card to Dani Carvajal late in the game.
Carlo Ancelotti was seen talking to the referee after the game.
Explaining what he told the referee, Carlo Ancelotti said: “I didn’t talk about Carvajal ‘s red card but about the grabs, which for me are all cards.
“He told me that not all of them are cards and I accepted his explanation from him. For me the referee had a good game.”
Speaking further on the yellow cards for protesting players, Ancelotti said: “I’ll discuss the cards for protests personally with the players.
“It was a hard fought match and the protests are understandable.”
