Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has been nominated for the La Liga Player of the Month for February.

Valverde has been in impressive form for the Los Blancos, and  has been a major player in Real Madrid’s unbeaten run that stretches back to September last year – a 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Other nominees in the Player of the Month include Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski, Atleti’s Marcos Llorente, Bilbao’s Yuri Berchiche and Osasuna’s Budimir.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said he doesn’t have to bother about the best position to field Valverde, as the Uruguayan can play in different positions.

Ancelotti said: “I’ve asked him where he prefers to play and he doesn’t care. I don’t either.

“The important thing is that he can play because he is an essential player for us.”
