Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies for some time now, and it seems to have now materialised.
According to The Athletic, Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies in 2024 or 2025.
The Canadian is nearing the end of his contract, and has less than 18 months left on his deal with Bayern.
Davies has so far opted against signing a new deal, and Bayern have no option than to sell him for a cut-price fee this summer or he’d move on a free transfer next year.
The 23-year-old have been linked with a move to Barcelona as well, but Davies prefers Real Madrid, and has avoided renewing his Bayern contract.
The Athletic claim there have been several meetings in recent weeks, including one in mid-February, which has accelerated Davies’ move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bayern are still harbouring hopes of convincing Davies to extend his stay with the Bundesliga champions, however, that is looking an impossibility of late.
Bayern will attempt to get a tangible transfer fee for Davies this summer in order to avoid losing him on a free in 2025.
As per the report, Alphonso Davies has verbally agreed to the move to join Real Madrid, but is only waiting on Bayern to decide when – this summer or next.
