Arda Guler scored his first ever Real Madrid goal in the 4-0 victory over Celta Vigo.

Having come on as a substitute in the 89th minute, Guler scored just five minutes later, in what was the final goal moments before the final whistle.

Carlo Ancelotti was pleased with his team’s performance, and also hailed the duo of Vinicius Jr and Arda Guler.

Ancelotti said: “We showed an improvement in attitude, intensity, pressing and ball circulation. It wasn’t very difficult to do better than we did on Wednesday.

“We capitalised on the set-pieces to take the lead and then we got the job done. We’re happy, focused and motivated because it’s an important stage of the season. At Real Madrid, a draw is the first step towards a crisis.

“You’re a bit worried when the second goal doesn’t come, but when it did, the floodgates were opened and we played at our best level. Points are very important at this point and they’re three very important points, just like the next ones are going to be because we’re ten games away from the end. We can’t drop off now.”

On Vini Jr’s performance, he said: “I’ve told him he’s the best. He’s the best in my opinion. He tries and he scored the first goal. I’ve also told Rüdiger and Nacho that they’re the best. I have to transmit confidence to them.”

On Arda Guler scoring his first goal for Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti also said: “He didn’t play very much, three minutes. I was convinced that he could do something and he produced a move of great talent.

“He is a great talent and those of us who watch him every day can see that he’s improved a lot in recent times. He works with more intensity and has shown his quality. He’s got a good future here and nobody here thinks otherwise.”
