Real Madrid’s first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, has suffered a nasty new injury in Real Madrid training, according to reports in Spain.
Courtois is yet to play a game this season after tearing his cruciate ligament in August. The Belgian was only nearing a return to the team before this latest setback.
According to Marca, Courtois has now suffered another injury setback that may have ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.
The report claims that the Belgian shot-stopper left training in tears after tearing the meniscus in his right knee.
Courtois will now undergo surgery on the knee injury.
A statement issued on Madrid’s website said: “Following tests carried out today [Tuesday], Thibaut Courtois has been diagnosed with a ruptured internal meniscus in his right knee.
“The injury occurred during today’s training session. The injury will be monitored.”
