Real Madrid settled their Champions League quarter-final clash against Manchester City on penalties.
Both sides had played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu, before a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes at the Etihad Stadium.
Andriy Lunin was the hero of the night for Real Madrid. The Ukrainian made eight saves during the 120 minutes of play, and made two top penalty saved during the penalty shootout which the Whites won 4-3.
Andriy Lunin denied Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic, as Real went on to win the game on penalties.
Before the shootout, Andriy Lunin had a conversation with Kepa, and it seems the Spaniard told Lunin something about Kovacic.
Kepa was teammates with Kovacic at Chelsea, and his advice may have worked in Lunin’s favour.
Speaking after the game, Lunin said: “I’m exhausted!
“The game? We won on penalties. I knew where Kovacic would go. I am the happiest man in the world.
“The situation is difficult in my country. It is not easy for me to train on a day-to-day basis because of this. But I want to thank everyone who is supporting me.”
