Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 3-2 in Sunday’s El Clasico clash at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Barcelona took the lead twice at the Bernabeu, but Real Madrid came back twice and eventually won the game, courtesy of a late Jude Bellingham goal.

There was a controversial moment at 1-1, as Lamine Yamal had an effort ruled out, as VAR couldn’t conclude whether the ball crossed the line.

Speaking after the game, Xavi insisted that Barcelona deserved to beat Real Madrid, hinting that Barcelona were robbed of a goal.

Xavi said after the 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid: “We were the best team tonight and we deserved to win.

“The future with those young talents will be bright for Barca. I don’t need to say anything about the referee.

“Everyone has seen it already – if I speak they may sanction me, the images are there.”

Barca legend Gerard Pique believes the goal should have stood, but understands the decision made by the officials.

He said: “There must be a camera on the crossbar for goals like that. I feel like the ball went in, but I understand if they say that they can’t confirm that.”
